Clinch Mountain Backstep is a great fiddle tune which is played for the most part in the minor key.
Although this is a great beginner flatpicking guitar piece, you will need to have a bit of practicing under your belt before to tackle it.

This break is not really all that simple - at least if you compare it to the remaining breaks that you will find here. If you play this one up to speed, it will sound very full and professional.

This song is unique in that the 'catch' of the song are the breaks in the timing, which are unexpected and give the unusual sound. That along with the lonesome minor key, make this a fun break to play and for others to listen to.

Play this break without a capo. It is usually played in the open first position and in the key of Am.
